About me
I am an NVQ Level 3 qualified maternity Nurse and nanny and have spent more than 10 years working as a nanny and maternity nurse between Italy and London, with babies and children aged 0-15. I have extensive experience in sleep training, breastfeeding consultations, weaning and all associated issues, as well as early intervention for Post Natal Depression.
I am also a former Intelligence Officer for the Italian government, and have also served for 6 years as a Police Officer in London, in the Emergency Response Team. I am a qualified EREPS-accredited Personal Trainer (EQF Level 4), and have been in professional sports throughout my military/law enforcement career, as well as during my years in childcare (learn more on how I incorporate fitness in my method). I am trained in Adult and Paediatric First Aid/BLS/AED, and also have a strong understanding of mental health thanks to my training in the Police and in the Royal British Legion where I have volunteered helping veterans with a wide range of issues from PTSD to re-adjustment to civilian life, including new mums. Mental Health remains a strong focus in my service to families, especially when it comes to stressful personal circumstances in a parent’s journey.
Serving families and seeing their children thriving in life has always been my passion and I soon developed a keen interest in child psychology after being trained in behavioural psychology in my intelligence role in Italy.
When I left for London to follow my passion and work as a nanny I started to apply many principles of what I had learned during my law-enforcement training to children development and education. Knowing the ins and outs of subconscious and conscious childhood development, I started observing how a child interacts with their parents, themselves, and the world, to understand their unique path to mental development, and to develop specific and tailored techniques in my day to day tasks.
From simple things like learning how to tidy up their play area and being independent and confident, potty training, fussy eating, sleep training, I was observing the child’s unique responses to the world, adjusting my strategies and passing these precious tools to the parents so that they could live and enjoy the most wonderful and exciting journey with their little ones.
Thanks to this unique mixture of skills and experiences, the CuddleTough® method was born!
